Certificate programme "Higher education Didactics" (ZHD): "Professional teaching skills for the university"
Certified professional development in higher education teaching is increasingly expected of professors and lecturers at many universities. As part of the certificate programme "Professional Teaching Competence for Higher Education" (known at the University of Wuppertal as ZHD), participants develop a professional identity as a member of the teaching staff while contributing to quality assurance in teaching and learning. Upon completion of the certificate programme, participants acquire formal recognition of comprehensive training in higher education didactics and pedagogical competence – qualifications that are valued not only within the university sector but also more broadly in the field of adult education.
Access to the certificate programme
Access to the certificate programme is open to academic and artistic staff at the University of Wuppertal, which includes attendance at all events offered by the HD-NRW network. Additionally, doctoral candidates, professional service staff (oder administrative and technical staff oder non academic staff) and academic or artistic staff from other universities within the NRW network may participate if places are still available.
The certificate programme includes a mandatory introductory advisory session at the start. To register for one of the upcoming dates, please send an email to Lehrdidaktik:

Structure of the certificate
The total scope of the certificate comprises at least 200 AE (work units) and is structured into the following three modules as well as a mandatory teaching observation period:
Certificate completion and Issuance
To receive your "Professional Teaching Competence for Higher Education" certificate, please send the completed transcript of records together with the proof of the work units you have completed (scanned certificates of attendance for all workshops attended, front and back) to lehrdidaktik[at]uni-wuppertal.de. If you provide us with your office address, we will be happy to send you the certificate.
