Basic module (at least 48 AE)

The Basic module conveys key knowledge and competencies for work in academic science management. It consists of required and elective components:

  • Academic System (8 AE)
    In this module, participants will gain understanding of the structures, actors, and legal frameworks of the German academic system. The programme covers topics such as higher education governance, research funding, as well as cross-cutting issues like diversity and sustainability within the academic system are addressed in a practical context.
  • Project Management (at least 16 AE)
    This module provides participants with fundamental methods of both classical and agile project management in the context of higher education and research. Participants will learn how to efficiently plan, implement, and control projects, and will engage with process management and strategic project development.
  • Communication (at least 16 AE)
    This module focuses on key communicative skills essential for working in research science management. Topics include the moderation and leading of meetings, negotiation techniques, conflict management, appreciate communication, and professional conduct in discussions.
  • Elective Option (8 AE)
    The elective option allows participants to diversify the foundation module individualy. Examples include workshops on science communication and social media, funding programs within higher education, or strategic development.
