Students' need for guidance within the university learning and working environment is growing, as is the role that (subject) counselling plays in the teaching staff's portfolio of tasks. There is a great demand for counselling sessions, especially at the beginning of studies. As part of the certificate, participants can further develop their "counselling skills", reflect on their role as a counsellor and learn to differentiate themselves from other counselling services (e.g. the central student guidance and counselling services (ZSB) or therapeutic formats). This will support you in finding and practising a professional counselling approach that is appropriate for your individual work.

Access to the certificate programme

Access to the certificate programme is open to academic staff at the University of Wuppertal who, among other things, have an advisory function and work in the University Service QSL, for example. We strongly recommend that you take advantage of a consultation at the beginning of the continuing education programme to discuss the requirements, procedure and other questions. Please contact Anna Thorn-König for this purpose.

Structure of the certificate

In addition to basic communication skills, the modularised certificate programme teaches various instruments and concepts for the special challenges of counselling situations in studying and teaching. The overall scope of the certificate comprises 80 work units (WU) and is divided into the following modules:
