PE NRW certificate programme "Qualification for professional fields in business and society"

The NRW certificate programme"Qualification for professional fields in business and society" supports academic staff in preparing for fields of activity outside the university. This includes activities in business and society, but also those at universities of applied sciences and non-university research institutions. In addition to the opportunity to become aware of their own career goals, participants also acquire key competences in the areas of leadership, management, communication and methods.

Programme organisation

The certificate is organised as an NRW certificate across all universities. On the one hand, the programme content can be compiled from internal BUW courses and courses designed for the certificate; on the other hand, participants have the opportunity to attend courses at other participating universities (usually remaining places). The conditions of participation (e.g. with regard to costs) depend on the requirements of the respective university offering the course.

Access to the certificate programme

The programme is primarily aimed at postdocs and advanced doctoral candidates. However, it is also open to academic staff outside of a qualification phase, science managers and junior professors.

Registration for the certificate takes place via an obligatory initial interview with the responsible certificate coordinator. Please contact lukat[at]uni-wuppertal.de for this purpose .

Structure of the certificate

The total scope of the certificate comprises 80 AE. The core consists of the following 5 workshop modules

• Leadership competences (Module A)
• Management competences (Module B)
• Communication skills (Module C)
• Methodological skills (Module D)
• Counselling, career planning and application (Module E)

The programme is framed by an initial orientation interview and a reflection workshop.

Completion of certificate

To obtain the certificate"Qualification for professional fields in business and society" (NRW certificate), please send the completed application form for the certificate and proof of the work units acquired (scanned certificates of attendance for the workshops attended, front and back) to Stephanie Lukat. If you provide us with an office address, we will be happy to send you the certificate.
