Alternative career paths for scientists

In order to support BUW academic and artistic staff in their career planning and in their search for fields of activity outside of research, a programme has been developed in the area of alternative career paths.

Access to the programme:

The programme is primarily aimed at doctoral candidates, postdocs and junior professors who are looking for a career change. However, the programme is also open to academic staff outside of a qualification phase and academic managers.

Programme structure:

After completing an obligatory initial interview, participants can choose from the modules listed below. Each of these modules pursues a specific learning objective with its topic-specific events in order to deal with the topic of alternative career paths. Taken together, all four modules complement each other perfectly to support participants in critically analysing the topic and becoming aware of different career options. However, in line with our needs-orientated approach, the programmes can also be used independently of each other.
